Cinnamon 5.6 is in the Arch repos

The latest version of Cinnamon has hit the Arch repos - v5.6.1 https://archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/cinnamon/

The list of changes requires scrutinizing the git commit log at https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/commits/master. Everything listed after v5.4.12 on 5th September is included. Release notes won’t appear until the beta ISO of Linux Mint 21.1 is released (highly likely before Christmas).

So if you upgrade to v5.6.1 there may well be some bugs and you can report them here - https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues. Other Cinnamon components have also been upgraded - https://archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q=cinnamon-&maintainer=&flagged=.

Just started testing this. No obvious errors so far, but we’ll see how we go :grinning:

The new corner thing seems OK. It’s not particularly new but works well for me so far.

I’m more interested to see if they’ve improved the general performance, which was starting to lack compared to Plasma.

Seems slightly snappier so far… but it’s early days. Nemo was updated to 5.6.0 six hours ago (at time of typing) so that hasn’t reached the Arch repos yet.

I’m finding one bug with the title bar on windows when you have one snapped to the left and one to the right, but I need to test with different themes etc to identify the culprit (GTK theme? Cinnamon?) before filing a bug :bug: EDIT It’s the theme, and there’s a workaround.
