I’m not claiming China is perfect all I’m saying is China is doing really really great considering where it was 30 years ago. You gotta respect that.
So when someone points to facts he or she is considered a troll? Did they alter the definition for troll in the dictionary?

So I should go along with CCP when it’s factually wrong just because western propaganda thought me to?
Reading what he wrote I stand by my assessment that he’s full of excrement.

It’s not troll, it’s comrade troll!

No one said that and the fact that’s what you write back as your reply to what I said sort of proves pzs’s point. Either you’re a troll or you absolutely don’t know how to present your points with respect.
China has undeniably made great strides since the early 1990s. However, the geopolitical rivalry between China and the United States has caused the CPC to behave in ways that would be considered morally questionable applying a western moral compass. This behaviour is hardly unique to China - “western hypocrisy” is definitely a thing. However, this thread is about the impact on Linux/FOSS of China encouraging Linux adoption in the desktop space. Can we focus our on that and less on whataboutery?
Does the word excrement make me a troll? You prefer faeces?
When someone shows no respect why should I respect that person? And yes the amount of anti China propaganda made me a little bit more harsh then I used to be.
Visit China and see for yourself.

Agreed on your post; I didn’t want the thread to devolve and escalate into some political back-and-forth. This was unexpected to me, and not my intention at all

There is no such thing as the CCP, that’s like me saying the AUS instead of the USA it’s childish. It’s called the Communist Party of China (CPC), get your facts straight.
In case it is helpful for getting the facts straight:
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), officially the Communist Party of China (CPC), is the founding and sole ruling party of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Under the leadership of Mao Zedong, the CCP emerged victorious in the Chinese Civil War against the Kuomintang. In 1949, Mao proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Since then, the CCP has governed China and has had sole control over the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Successive leaders of the CCP have added I...

The choice to use either CCP or CPC for China's ruling Communist Party has become politically charged, but how did this distinction arise — and does it even matter?

There are two universally recognized titles and corresponding acronyms for the same thing. Using one instead of the other is not incorrect just because it does not align with what you personally believe people should call it.
By contrast, saying “AUS” instead of “USA” is unlikely to be understood. It’s basically a typo.

It’s not far off, if a civil tone cannot be restored to the conversation.
For now the topic is in “slow mode”; hopefully the enforced lengthy delay between posts will encourage everyone to carefully consider what they are going to say.
Everyone, please be mindful that this is a community of your peers. Try to treat them with respect, even when you disagree with them.
Since you’re so interested in the topic and knowledgeable about China, which FOSS desktop software applications being developed for Linux excite you the most? Which aspects of the transition do you perceive as most challenging for China?
a western moral compass.
What are those western morals exactly? Supporting ethnic cleansing and genocide? Overthrowing governments left and right? Lying and cheating once the deal is signed?. Bombing weddings and consular buildings? All in the name of democracy, freedom and human rights.
Go visit Tiananmen square memorial bro!

Go visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki or Vietnam or Iraq or Serbia or Libya or pretty much any country in the world the west has raped bombed and pillaged.
Yet they somehow cry when it happens to them and once they regained their freedom they continue to rape and pillage Africa and Asia and start a cold war against the party that was essential in freeing them. The amount of hypocrisy is staggering.
I get it you people hate China or any other nation rising to power if the west doesn’t control that nation.
There are two universally recognized
Not recognized by China so why the childish behaviour? It’s like saying Burma instead of Myanmar.
which FOSS desktop software applications being developed for Linux excite you the most?
I only use Arch and Arch based distro’s.
most challenging for China
Since the West and China are in the beginning phases of a full blown trade war/cold war it’s mostly the lithography systems that China needs to develop but that will go quite rapidly since the export bans to China related to those machines and their products.
Considering that in China millions more get a degree each year in science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) compared to the West and they invests billions and billions more in those sectors it’s only logical that sooner rather then later they will overtake us here in the West.
The West needs to get their heads out their you know what and learn how to compete instead of pointing the finger and complaining about stuff they are making up.
Have you seen any Chinese FOSS applications for desktop Linux being developed since the move away from Windows was announced?
Trolls calling out Trolls… please permit to laugh my beautiful ass off ![]()
We get it you hate Chinese people and you don’t have meaningful arguments so you fall back to childish behaviour.
I loved winnie the pooh when growing up. Not as good as spider-man, transformers or the rescue rangers but descent.
Honestly I don’t see the resemblance. One is bold the other has hair, one has ears on the top of his head and the other on the side and one’s whole life is centered around honey while the other leads the most powerful nation in the world. Clearly that last part hurts you to your core. Jealousy is an ugly beast.
Guy comes in and begins saying pro China stuff
“no guys I’m not a troll”
Less than 10 replies later, the guy begins riding Xi like no tomorrow and saying people here are hating the Chinese
funniest thing that I saw on this forum so far ![]()
