I can’t believe it’s been nearly a decade since the death of Chester Bennington. Chester (and Linkin Park) are all too often overlooked as an important figure in American rock music… music in general, actually.
And this song in particular, “Numb”, will forever remain one of my favorite songs; by anyone.
From the very first Linkin Park song to the last with Chester, they were all a a virtual scream for help. My God, what a tortured soul.
Absolutely. “Numb” is one of those songs that never really gets old. Chester had such a distinctive voice, and Linkin Park had a huge impact on rock and nu-metal. It’s hard to believe how long it’s been since Chester passed.
I haven’t heard this song on the radio for a long time around here. I do remember it though. Don’t recall the passing of Chester Bennington but i do remember when Chris Cornell from Sound Garden passed and i guess they were very good friends. It was only a few months afterwards. Sad to lose a couple of great artists.

I’m okay with the new lineup but I still prefer with the original one.
In my opinion, Linkin Park died with Chester.
This “revival” feels wrong on so many levels, I dont even know where to start to explain.
They should have started a new Project with this new team, and that way honor what Linkin Park once was (ofc they still can play the old songs).
This is basically what my favs did. Member of old band died → halting project → still want to do music? → create new project under new name (honoring old times, but not “zombiefying” it)

I am 100% with you on this. More precise: I WAS. Then I saw them perform together. And I thought to myself: LOOK AT THIS SMILE! Seeing Mike happy again changed something in me. From “nah, that’s not right” to “hey, let’s give it a chance”. Now I am again a Fanboi of LP, like I was before. Yes, the hurt is still inside of me, but it has a little brother full of joy and commitment. O, better said, a Sister.
Having said that I want to point out something else: How on earth can a band begin their journey with something like “One step closer”, and after hiatus and reformation continue with something like “The emptiness machine”? These two tracks (while not beeing the best of LP) as starters? TWICE? HELL YEAH!
i dont want to argue with you on this.. each to their own.
but what i know of (zombie) linkin park because i talk with people and also musicians (who had strong connections to chester) led me to loose all respect for the band and the people currently inside it. this could have been avoided, but it is what it is.
