What I recognized is that there are a lot of extensions offered in Plasma settings that don’t work with Plasma 6. And often you are not able to recognize that in the extension manager. I often installed such themes, extensions and so on and wasn’t able to boot. Then I had to restore a snapshot that I created before trying out extensions.
I think this is a point that KDE devs could approve.
What extension manager? There really isn’t one, unless I’m missing something. I know various parts of settings has a “get new” button, though. But I never use that because of the warning tab and lack of descriptions.
Yeah, when they updated from version 5 to version 6, they changed from Qt5 to Qt6 and made quite a lot of breaking changes. Many themes and extensions still haven’t been updated for Plasma 6.
The developer may or may not update it. There’s no telling. But for extensions, applets and such I go to the extensions section of the KDE Store and look under the ones already listed as Plasma 6.
I see. Well, personally, I’d rather search for what I know works at the KDE store and use that. I also sometime see if a given extension, widget or whatever is available in the Arch repo or AUR. That way, it gets updated.
