Cannot change default folder ‘Icon View’ to ‘Compact View’. It always defaults back to ‘Icon View’.
what does it tells : ls -la ~/.config | grep pcmanfm-qt ?
ohhh seems like a bug
where you set Compact view… you find a checkbox save the setting for this folder , check this and select compact view.
Preserve Settings for This Folder, is what you mean. There must be a way to make the setting global.

Just check the ‘Preserve Settings for This Folder’ box and your view setting will stick.
