CD Ripping App Recommendation Please

I just got an external LG DVD Writer for digitizing my CDs.

Tested it with some CDs through Audacious, and all is great.

Do any of you have recommendations for an app for converting tracks from CD to FLAC and/or mp3? It’s been many years since I needed such an app, and I’m totally out of touch with what might be available these days.

I’m running EOS KDE Plasma, if that matters.

Clementine, the music player has the facility to rip audio cds. The only other one I know is abcde. Both are available in the aur. For a burner, I recommend k3b,

I mostly use audex. Sometimes asunder it’s GTK-based

I used to use Brasero back in the day it is a Gnome app.

I use KDE’s own k3b. It is not only a burner, but also a ripper.

I installed both. Testing Audex at the moment. I’ll test with k3b next.

Thanks, guys!

Whipper - a CLI app that supports AccurateRip, and MusicBrainz for metadata lookup. Easy to use.

I’ve used Fre:ac as well.

TIL. I’ve never explored more options until today.

Same here. I’ve never had a need for a ripper, until now. It’s been many years since I last used one. So far, I’m really liking Audex.

Aside from my large CD collection, I still have, and still purchase RECORDS.

76Ov

33 rpm, all day long !

As I’m currently in the progress to solder up and wire a phono pre-amp kit.

Likewise…

Have ripped my whole cd collection in the past , when I still used Windows, a long time ago.
Now I sometimes buy flac downloads (cd quality) from Qobuz at a reasonable price.
BTW I heard that cd’s and records are in fashion again

@UncleSpellbinder just found it via hackernews

much better than any app

INTERESTING! Thanks! :vulcan_salute:

Asunder.
Used it for my whole collection. can make volume consistent, flac options etc.

Man that was a bear of a project—do you realize how much plastic I got rid of? As much as I kept

So far, Audex is amazing. Thanks, @swh. As for Asunder, it looks similar and would probably do the job just as well, but I prefer to stay away from GTK apps if I can. I only have a few at the moment and would like to keep it that way.

You’re welcome. As alwyas :enos_flag:

I have the exact same phobia in reverse: I want no kde packages on my gtk/gnome base; it’s never gone well and there’s a benefit to staying native.
