Can't start a game with Wine

Hi!
My gpu is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and I used nvidia-inst to install nvidia-beta-dkms-550.78-1

I installed Ark Ascended which runs smoothly on Windows. I am using same install files on Endeavour, however, when I start a game (via Lutris or via command line with wine *.exe I got Ark Ascended logo for a 3 seconds and then it’s a black screen for about 15 seconds and this is the error I got:

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000028

I read that it’s graphics driver related. Has anyone encountered this problem on EndevourOS and what was your fix or what would be your suggestion?

Do you mean Ark Survival Ascended? Where did you get it from? If you got it from Steam why not try using it?

I didn’t get it from steam

Okay, so where did you get it from? The game launcher and the source of the game matter.

I know for a fact (because I tested with a games like New World, CS 2, Path of Exile) that if I download and install Ark Survival Ascended from Steam game will 100% work.
However, this is pirated version and all files are already unpacked. On Windows all it took was running *.exe file and it worked. So, it should work with wine too I assume.
I tested with executables namd ArkAscended.exe and ArkAscende_BE.exe and got the same error.

Not how WINE or Proton work, there is a reason so many helpers and guides exist for certain games, since this is a pirate copy you’re pretty much on your own as this is pretty much “unsupported” software.

@aldcor You will have to do all the work on that ship as the captain, navigator, rowers, etc.

Note: Just because most Linux distros are free software, please don’t confuse that with meaning we don’t pay for stuff.

Unless some other pirate is willing to share how they got it to work

Their comment is likely to get deleted, so I doubt it.

Piracy isn’t supported on this forum, there are other places on the internet for this

I’m patiently waiting private message on solution.

I understand. This post can be deleted then.

I’m pretty shocked that someone would boldly come to this forum asking for help with pirated software. In all honesty, this topic should either be closed or just plain deleted. Hopefully a moderator will agree.

If you can afford an Nvidia RTX 3080 gpu you, you can surely afford $45-50 for a game on Steam.

Yep. Or do like I do: wait for games to be 75% or more off before buying.

Of course, if you want to play online multiplayer games, then doing this just won’t cut it, but for single-player games, this works just fine.

There are literally thousands of other games you can play while you wait.

I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 since it debuted, which to me is the best game ever, and I paid fool price. And even so, I’d say, no game is worth fool price in my opinion. Contradictory, I know, but I’ll never do that again.

PS: Yes, I typed “fool price” instead of “full price” — it is not a typo.

Yup this is why my games library is mainly full of older games but I don’t mind, they’re new to me. (On top of this GOG gives away games quite often, I think I have paid for maybe a quarter of my games there and the rest have been giveaways and some have been pretty awesome)

Same. I have Control, the entire Dishonored franchise, Ori 1 and 2, Days Gone, etc. all for only 25% or less of their individual prices.
