Cant install Bootloader failure

Been trying to install Endeavor and OS on a downstairs PC, planning to turn it into a living gaming unit for for couch games and such, Currently has windows 10 installed, But every time i try to run the installer it stops at the boot loader saying bootloader failed to install. Im trying to install Endeavor to its own SSD

https://termbin.com/v1bz This is the error log it printed out, hope this helps figure this out

Installing for i386-pc platform.\ngrub-install: warning: this GPT partition label contains no BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible.\ngrub-install: error: embedding is not possible, but this is required for cross-disk install."

Looks like you are installing in legacy/CSM mode. You should boot the ISO in uefi mode and then you will get a UEFI install. If you can’t figure out how to do that, you can temporarily disable CSM boot in the BIOS.

if Endeavour is replacing Windows then format/erase the whole disk first (to gpt) from live iso.
The output was complaning about unsuitable (formatting) devices and ‘ntfs’ formatting in places although and am no log guru.
Also, I never go wrong unplugging the other hdds/ssds when I install to a single disk.
2 cents

its not replacing Windows, rather installing it along side it as a dual boot, using separate drives. If what im trying from above doesnt work ill try unplugging other drives.

I figured it was something like that, but its weird If i turn of CSM support, The boards BIOs does not recognize or display the flash drive Im trying to boot from. And when I leave it on, and turn it to UEFI only, it shows up but still fails to install the bootloader when the installer is run

Then it’s possible a new log might show a new problem, if you posted it.

I installed, for the helluva it, Endeavour to an old laptop (hp something) last year. In order to see everything and disable CSM I had to make a deal with the devil. Not that dramatic but I had to create a ‘master’ BIOS password. After I created a BIOS password, I got access to about 3 more settings that I didn’t have before in BIOS that helped me install. Maybe that was WIN and HP protecting each other?

Anyways it worked (the install). But it won’t even boot up without the MASTER BIOS password being the first thing in the screen…

TLDR: i was only successful after researching the crap out of the hardware (PC) and its Linux capabilities. Appalling as I’ve a life of mostly stress-free installs..
foods for thoughts..

I hope you can resolve this issue & get EnOS on the system. If you do & want to use it for streaming media these Chrome/Brave extensions may be useful for fullscreen playback:

  • ‘Improve YouTube!’ :headphone: (for YouTube & Videos)
    – Automatic fullscreen
    – Themes & Dark mode Schedule (also Black theme for oLed)
    – Undo the new Sidebar (Description, details, comments)
    – frame by frame advance
    – way too many to list here
    – NB: don’t use the adblock feature, it’s detected by new YT & halts/3-play-limits video playback, rely on Brave adblock instead
  • New Netflix 1080p
    – Play Netflix movies in 1080p in Chrome
    – Unlock 5.1 audio where available
    – Automatically switch to the highest available bitrate
    – more

Maybe you can dig some useful stuff out of this crud too.

Best of luck.
