Can't control fans on a Gigabyte B550

I have read the lm_sensors troubleshooting page and im not entirely sure i understand correctly, just looking for some guidance on controling my CPU and case fans on a Gigabyte B550 motherboard

What’s the software you’re trying to use? I highly recommend CoolerControl.

Just a raw sensors call doesn’t show either of the fans

Have you run sudo sensors-detect yet? Also, check the all mighty arch wiki entry for lm-sensors. Especially the part about Gigabyte motherboards and their chipsets. Which also suggests to have a look at the zenpower5-dkms package in the AUR if you’re not so keen to follow the wikis instructions to set up it87-dkms-git with the required kernel parameters and such.

From the Arch Wiki…

ASUS H97/Z97/Z170/Z370i/X570/B550/B650-PLUS/X670 motherboards

With some recent ASUS motherboards, fan and voltage sensor access may require the nct6775 kernel module to be loaded.

This module should already exist on your system (it does on mine, and I’m not running that particular board).

A link for OP would probably be useful.

I would try it87 first because:

Optionally installation of zenpower5-dkmsAUR may allow greater fine tuning of the motherboard’s cooling system. However, it does disable the default k10temp module.

I have a gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX and also require it87 to be able to see all fans with sensors-detect, but on my board it works without any kernel parameters, /etc/modprobe.d/it87.conf or any specific modprobe actions. It just worked ootb with it87-dkms-git
