Cannot boot system after battery drained

I use endeavouros on a HP laptop. Because I only use it docked, and have been using it for many years now, the battery health is low.
I took it somewhere, and assume it discharged somehow during the travel, even though powered off. I tried using a different HP laptop charger on it, and since then haven’t been able to boot into it. On power on, the only thing I see is a blue message saying “The selected boot device failed. Press enter to Continue”. Pressing enter then shuts down without reaching my boot manager/loader.
Trying to boot into a live usb, I had to set the order in boot options in my BIOS again, and I got a blue message saying “Verification failed” and requiring me to “Enroll key from disk” in “MOK management”, but otherwise the live boot worked, and arch-chrooting in seems to show that the system is fine.

I realised that the battery discharging, or possibly trying to use a charger with a different voltage, had reset all of my BIOS settings, including enabling “Secure boot”.

Disabling “Secure boot” solved the issue, and I can access my computer again.

You might want to check if your machine has a BIOS backup battery, and probably replace it. In olden times, these were mostly CR2032.

Dunno about modern laptops, they might use NVRAM and not supply the RTC with power anymore.
