Whenever I watch youtube documentaries that touch on old BBS’es I totaly fall in love with their look , so like the title says, I was wondering if it is possible to make the terminal look like that(specific example, especially the colors and font below)?
And, maybe more importantly, if yes then how hard/easy would that be? Is it something even a newb like me could achive with a bit of tinkering, or would it be really involved?
Googling this didn’t really turn up much except a couple of things, like how to make it look like one of those amber CRTs and one about how to make it look like the C64, which while very pretty in thier own right, don’t get me wrong, don’t really compare in my humble opinion…
So what are your thoughts, pretty, doable, easy, anything else you would like to add?
I personaly don’t like it but it should be possible to make it more like it (probably difficult to make it exactly like that).
It will depend on the terminal and desktop environment you use.
Font - you can look up terminus or terminus TTF.
For colors you will have to set them directly in terminal config file or in Xresources if you use those. There are only 16 colors (8 light + 8 dark).
There may be a different approach to modify a terminal you use in the desktop environment and TTY.
The issue you will have is that BBS are programmed to be that way. The Terminal is a generic tool and not a specific tool like the BBS. The Terminal can have some cool stuff done but it will take hours of work and research to get things the way you want and you will still not be close to everything you want for a project like this.
