Can I Use My Current SSD On New Motherboard?

I plan to get a new motherboard. As I am having too many issues with my current one. It’s a GIGABYTE B650M AORUS ELITE AX AM5.

I never had to do this. Normally, I would just reinstall on a newer system. But the motherboard would be the only thing I am changing out, Same RAM, SSD, CPU, etc.

I do remember that Windows has a fit whenever it moves to a new system, I’m not sure about how Linux/Arch takes that.

The new motherboard is going to be an ASRock B850M PRO RS WIFI

My friend says it should be OK, but I just wanna know for sure..

That should not be an issue. I did the same job some years ago. It was easy

Sure, I swap drives between machines all the time. That’s part of the reason I like Linux better than Windows.

Should be fine, i’m more concerned about your choice of motherboard here, if you haven’t bought it yet, you might want to consider another brand …

Why is that? I am using a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra with ECC Ram since 2021 and I am very happy with it.

EDIT:
Sorry, forget it. I missed that the new Board is from ASRock. I have no experience with ASRock.

I’m talking about AsRock specially the 8XX series, i’ve seen enough come back at work to not recommend them for the moment

Edit : Despite what i say, as long as you immediately update your bios and check voltages you should be fine with an ASRock motherboard, if you’ve got a good deal go for it. People with problems are still such a small minority.

ASRock used to be a budget company, Think I read that it was based off ASUS.

But, lately, they have stepped up their game and are now no longer budget.

Here’s a link to the motherboard I’m thinking of: https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b850m-pro-rs-wifi-micro-atx-motherboard-amd-b850-am5/p/13-162-196?Item=13-162-196&cm_sp=product-_-from-price-options

Pretty good choice :+1:
