Can I disable Kwin or its effects in Plasma 6.1 Wayland?

Hi friends.

I’m using EOS KDE Plasma 6.1 and sometimes I have some problems with Kwin effects.

I don’t know what exactly Kwin is, but it seems that it is a process in charge of displaying desktop effects in KDE Plasma, such as window animations or transparencies.

They are effects that do not seem to be mandatory for KDE Plasma to work, so I would like to disable all of these effects or disable Kwin.

I’ve been reading looking for a way to disable it on Wayland, but they say it’s only possible to disable it on X11. Is this true?

So there is no way to disable Kwin or all of its desktop effects in Wayland?

Thanks in advance.

kwin is the window manager, disabling that would be bad.

You can disable individual effects in System Settings->Window Management->Desktop Effects

Like dalto mentioned you can disable the effects, but kwin is the compositor. Basically when on wayland disabling the compositor is the same as disabling Xorg when on X11. Starting to see how that wouldn’t work?

Oh, I think I got it a bit, thanks. I’m still lacking some basic knowledge though, so I thought X11 and Xorg were the same thing.
