Why are your initrds so huge?
None of the files I have generated on any system have been large like that.
I have absolutely no idea, outside of installing the linux-lts kernel from pacman, I donāt do anything else with it and I do not customize it in anyway, Iām more or less a āstick to the defaultsā as much as I can type of user.
Dunno if it helps, but I did a fresh install of EndeavourOS Artemis Neo about a week ago (from the EndeavourOS_Artemis_neo_22_7.iso), so my system shouldnāt be cluttered at all.
It seems mine are bigger too. Although, nowhere near the size of yours.
Dracut is definitely including more in the image. I will have to see what it would take to safely slim them down if that is possible.
I tried removing the kernel modules. This reduced the size a good bit. There was a downside though. The initrd could no longer load the root filesystem so I am not sure it is worth itā¦

you probably have to edit the dracut configuration.
Good idea. Previous to that suggestion I had been baking cookies which wasnāt having the desired impact on the initrd size.

How do I which kernel modules to ignore? As you say initrd couldnāt load the rootfs if you ignore too much
Iām trying to track down any similar issues and I came across this one from a year ago (tl:dr some are blaming the increased file size on nvidia, others blame it on debugging symbols):
Iām still searching around and seeing some reports (over years) of some users having a similar issue of a larger than life kernel size.
Also, not sure if itās safe for me to attempt any reboots? Or just hold off on that till this is tracked down a little better perhaps.
Given the sizes involved, you can only have a single kernel installed.
So if you want to reboot, you need to pick one and then rerun the script.
I have been testing. The only thing I have found which can be safely removed and actually takes up any space is i18n support. However, it is only 2MB(4MB total). You can remove things like plymouth but the savings is not material.

Ah thatās the bummer, thatās a big deal breaker for me, I like having at least 2 kernels to be able to either boot or test from. I doubt itās possible to undo all the changes Iāve already done? I do have a archinstall iso handy for if I go the nuclear option since I have been wanting to test that out.
