How come no thumbnail for the boot splash options?
I’ve NEVER seen a Boot Splash Screen option in Colors & Themes…
There is, however, a Boot Splash option.
No idea where the “Boot Splash Screen” option came from.
Hmmm. I wonder why i have it and you don’t?

Edit: I forgot that I’m on Cachy.
Judging by the name I assume that your “boot splash theme”s are Plymouth themes and not the Plasma Splash screens that appear after KDM login and before the desktop showing up.
I don’t know much about this snap-in for the settings, but IF there are usually displayable thumbnail files, then search for them on filesystem and check permissions. May be they belong to root and have 660 permissions and your user does not have access.
Well, then this is certainly something that should be asked on CachyOS forums. Although both distros share certain aspects, Cachy is completely it’s own system.
I am on Frankendeavour (enOS+cachy) - works here.
I have Plymouth installed and never had the thumbnails either, figured it was just the way it was in KDE ![]()
Cachy’s getting a little flashy! Or should i say splashy with their boot screen?
Yeah I hated cachy. It was just a bloated distro IMHO. I went to remove stuff I didn’t want like the Plymouth screen only to find that plymouth was a dependency of other crap. Spent more time trying to remove programs I didn’t want than I do just reinstalling my entire system. Decided they were not worth the time or effort.
i do think issue is with archbase and kde/plasma setting and plymouth ? intergration on some parts were you need system rights do not work 100% properly.
plymouth-kcm is what makes this showing up in settings.
same here:
and yes its simply there sre no preview images:
I know this.
Sorry, but if you knew, why did you post it here? People at Cachy forums could propably have given you answer much faster.
And I don’t mean to mean or anything like that, but in general if you have issue of specific distro, then best way is to ask from the forums of that distro. As you can see, people here are willing to help you, but Cachy forums are there for a reason.
Always feel free to ask here, but next time put the name of distro you are using into the opening paragraph so people know where to start digging into your issue.
Because i finally figured it out after I already posted.
