Bspwm edition

wow i forgot that polybar is in aur… maybe one of the options could be building from source  ?
yabar? i must check it…

problem with yabar -is hat it hasn’t had any development in over a yer. I even opened an iissue and asked if the project is dead

hmm… not good, but that’s life.
tint2? dzen2?

dzen2 is not for beginners - I had hell with it it using it with herbstluftwm- for 14 months
Polybar on the other hand has modules - very like i3 blocks - so you can write your own modules without knowing any scritpting language. it’s human-readable. I wish we could look the other way on poylobar but if that’s not an option someone else has to write the bar. and it will be a genrifc bar. polybar can make ech module for each user. Tint 2 I think is great for stacking wm - not so much for tiling - that’s just my preference though

ok so we will build polybar from source maybe?

I always buils bspwm ans axhkd from source- I never used the aur pk’s

i that case there is one question… can we build from source in this flavor

should work as this builds are not huge and time consuming.

but if you need like 3 packages we can add them to eos repository also, if there will be someone having a look into changes upstream and updating PKGBUILDS if needed.

well, at this moment we are talking about 3 packages how much of them will be more time will tell.

hmm… it’s good idea, but frankly i don’t have many experience with mantainig packages…
especially with arch, i’m refugee from opensuse… men i miss yast

I’m willing to learn
but what are the 3 packages - I count only 2

polybar

I’ve been messing with polybar config stuff the last few nights here. I really like it. It seems easy enough to set a standard bar with a lot of info in it and let the user trim it down as needed/wanted. There are a lot of good examples out there, I’ve been messing mainly with the ones from here. They are well written (as far as I can tell) and work well, once you get all the fonts.
