I had some writing permissions issues on kernel 5.8 for another app so I loaded the LTS one, I will try again

Did you try uninstalling the broadcom-wl? If you have another way of connecting to install it after in case it doesn’t work i would try that. The brcmsmac is part of the kernel modules.
