The PKGBUILDs are certainly unofficial, but the AUR itself clearly isn’t.

So in this case the discussion about what’s officially endorsed and what not and why can liken a medieval theological one of the sort: “How come something thoroughly GOOD like Arch provide for something potentially EVIL like PKGBUILDs that it cannot endorse them itself?”

This looks more like a network issue. The brave-bin package is ca. 170 MB big. It should not take that long to download. By the way, what is the output of the yay command when you try the install?
What is not working with yay -Syu ? Please show the output.
The most telling info would be:
pacman -Qm
to see what foreign packages they have in their system and by extension it may explain why the updating takes so long.

I confirm I use the welcome for the update but as the AUR update take too much time I decided to not update ; then it’s a mistake probably , however , I have quite nothing from AUR ( directly installed by my self )
For me I consider AUR updating as an " inconvenient " ; Arch , yes , AUR no ! I use EOS as a secondary distro , I finally dislike the updating . Then I am looking for a rolling using only old tested app ; my last matter was about thunderbird with no Oauth2 option in last version …Also the impossibility to install brave - for a safe browsing ( FF always request cookies acceptation !! )- is too much for me .
You never bothered to post the requested information. Many here have installed with no issue.
Everything you have from the AUR should have been installed directly yourself.
Sounds like you should try a distro that does not have the AUR since its apparent your not familiar enough with it to use it properly.
IF you ever get serious about getting help maybe you will post requested information in the future.

It is not absolutly impossible to install brave, I just did on my laptop and am writing from it right now.
I did yay -S brave-origin-bin (did yay -Syu before)
This install took me 1minute and 28 seconds btw. And I have VERY horrible internet connection, I am not even joking. (people who know me here know i like complaining about that)
If you would post the requested information like outputs from brave, yay -Syu, (or yay -Syu brave-bin or yay -Syu brave-origin-bin) or like anything at this point, (like a screenshot of a speedtest to see if it could be your internet connection) it would help, but like this we cant help at all.
That makes no sense. The AUR update takes no time if you have nothing installed from AUR. You have still not shown any output proofing your point.
This makes no sense either. The brave browser is an AUR package. If you want the brave browser, you have to install it from AUR.
And as long as you do not post the output of the relevant commands, like yay -Syyu, it makes no sense to further discuss this topic here.
Installed Brave Origin this way some days ago too. No issues so far. Also bought a license although I didn’t need to buy because the Linux version is free to use.
Afaik you can use brave origin on your phone and/or other devices then, where it’s paid. Think it’s a one time payment for endless uses/devices.

Brave origin costs no money in the AUR version.
As I said, I installed it and I am using it. Nowhere have I said that I paid for it, only that I wish I could (I don’t have spare money), so I could use it on my other devices. (And support the project).
