How NOT to Invest – Barry Ritholtz

Katherine Mansfield – A Cup of Tea

Using Thorium to play this EPUB3 Audio Ebook, and

bgv --volume 80 "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUKKzdVy0EI&pp=ygUIY2FtcGZpcmU%3D"

for a little campfire.

After having read to my children for many years, I now enjoy relaxing on the sofa and have a real narrator read a book to me. Plus a little fireplace ambience and a cuppa.

Trisolaris starts off spectacularly, but then somehow loses a lot of momentum. But I’m only a third of the way through, so I’m curious to see how it pans out in the end.

If they taught us this in history class instead of the monarchy, I’d have been a lot more interested.

real narrator? It’s not an audiobook so I assume it’s AI generated voice?
Edit: Oh it’s EPUB3 Audio Ebook, never tried epub3 features…

Fake realities will create fake humans. Or, fake humans will generate fake realities and then sell them to other humans, turning them, eventually, into forgeries of themselves. So we wind up with fake humans inventing fake realities and then peddling them to other fake humans.

No I’m not against AI, just found this article interesting

Yes, you got it. It is an EPUB3 book that has synced audio media overlays, recorded by a human narrator.

Which is kinda nice (and should be supported much more), because you could even have multiple real narrators speaking different characters in a book. Plus, you can see where it currently reads.

Best of both worlds—ebooks and audio books, in one. Unfortunately, there are not too many readers supporting this format. Yet.

I wonder if it’s possible to merge/sync my gutenberg epub files texts with https://librivox.org/ audio. Will look into https://github.com/w3c/epub-specsbetter to discuss in separate technical thread. :speak_no_evil_monkey:

Yup, maybe so.

In the meantime, you could read

or have a look around Read Beyond

After finishing “Dynamitfischen in Venedig” (ISBN-13: 9783954610334), which I highly recommend for the german community, I’ve now started to read a book in a total different category for several short diversions in the next few days/weeks:

Probably not for everyone.

I tried to borrow the book from our public library. As they didn’t have it, I ordered it yesterday from our book dealer on the market square. I was able to pick it up this morning.

»Support your local dealer!« Yay! :cowboy_hat_face:

(Real book shops are becoming rare, they need our support.)

Our bookshop has been around for ages. But it changed hands this year. I like shopping there. If it’s not available in the public library, I order it there. The book usually arrives the next day.
