Blurry Icons In New ISO

Hey there,

I’m getting a weird issue where some icons look blurry/out of focus after startup until I hover over them with my mouse. I have no idea why, this is happening with a completely stock fresh install of Plasma 6 ~ 2 weeks ago (no settings changed) as well as when booting up the new ISO.

Here are some screenshots to show what I mean.

Should I report this as a bug to the plasma team, and if so where’s the best place to do that?

Thanks!

Hi

You can try this fix from Arch wiki:

Blurry icons in system tray

In order to add icons to tray, applications often make use of the library appindicator. If your icons are blurry, check which version of libappindicator you have installed. If you only have libappindicator-gtk2 installed, you can install libappindicator-gtk3 as an attempt to get clear icons.

Too me, look like cache related issue.

rm -r ~/.cache/*plasma*

then log out/in or:

killall plasmashell; kstart5 plasmashell

Thanks guys, I tried both but unfortunately neither worked.

It happens as well on the Fedora 40 KDE ISO, looks like a plasma bug.

Edit: I found a bug report and added to it. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485740
If anyone else has this problem it might be helpful for you to do so as well.

I also have the problem. I assume that it is not fixed yet.
Some posts mentioned that it is related to the “floating panel”.
