someone told me to check the Fn + Fsomething combo, that can act as a kill switch, which is indeed the case on my computer.

I’m assuming this is in reference to the REISUB/REISUO method; one of the following will apply:

[ Press and hold all of Fn + Alt + PrintScreen ] + R + E + I + S + U + B/O*
[ Press and hold Alt + SysRq ] + R + E + I + S + U + B/O*

• B to reboot, O to shut down

No, I am referring to Fn+F10, which, on my laptop, triggers airplane mode (no wifi, no bluetooth, they are hardblocked as with a kill switch).
REISUB is looks useful to get logs and troubleshoot crashes, but I think it is not activated by default.
