I was gonna make a post that touched on this a bit later on, because I’d still rather try to get this fixed first if possible, but since you got there ahead of me let me make it now.
It was gonna go something like this:
Ok people, please please please at least give me this, if I sell a kidney or maybe a testicle(I don’t use those much anyway
) so I can buy at least the cheapest(the lovely 7800x3d is beyond me atm) am5 cpu I can find right now, can I still backup my system with chroot?
For example using pacman -Qqm > aur_and_foreign_pkgs.txt and pacman -Qqn > repo_pkgs.txt and the unison(which I don’t even have installed, would need to install that package and run it under chroot) program like @ddnn recommended in this other topic?
And even if that can be done under chroot, would it even help for something like Brave where you would normally open the program to export all your currently opened tabs and bookmarks and stuff or am I gonna lose most of that?!?! ![]()
Heck I could even copy the entire contents of my / and /home partitions to another drive if necessary, I’m just not clear on how that is gonna help me restore stuff after a reinstall and hardware change… ![]()
P.S. For those(probably most) of you wondering “WTF is wrong with you dude?!” yeah I know you don’t have to buy new hardware just to do a reinstall, but that is how much I hate reinstalling OS’s and redoing the hundreds of settings for the dozens of different programs you had…!!!
It’s like one of the banes of my existence, so I would much rather figure/do something extreme so I can get it all done now, instead of reinstalling now just so I have to do it again in several months when I was normally planning on buying the cpu.
