Black Screen After EndeavourOS Update – How to Fix?

Hi Everyone,

I recently updated EndeavourOS, and after rebooting, Iam getting a black screen with no UI. I can switch to TTY mode (Ctrl + Alt + F2), but my desktop environment GNOME/KDE/XFCE doesn’t load.

I have tried:
Running startx, but it fails with errors.
Checking journalctl -b -1 for logs, but I’m not sure what’s causing it.
Reinstalling NVIDIA/AMD/Intel drivers.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Could this be caused by a kernel update, display manager failure, or GPU driver conflict**? Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Yes this can be cause by kernel updates or something ells.
you can Chroot into your system with the ISO live of EndeavourOS and reinstall Linux kernel and Linux headers

Are you able to describe for us the last thing you see before it goes black? How far into the boot process is it getting?

@SCORPION2000’s advice is the best way to recover from failure to start :+1:
