Bios question

Not sure where to post this, so I will make it a casual thought, and maybe someone will chime in. I have a new box. An Alienware R16, and I m trying to understand the bios. In the boot section it mentions the boot options. (Note: It still has Windows in it. The purchase came with 1 year of premium Dell service, so I will be keeping it stock for a bit.) Anyway, The boot section in bios mentions boot options.

I know nothing about booting from a NIC by the way…In the general section of the bios it shows IPv4, and IPv6 disabled.

Could these two images be related? I get the internet just fine, so the general disabled references don t seem to relate to the internet per say. My only conclusion is the disabled html references pertain to the boot options. Could this be right?

Just to note. I plan on installing EOS in this box eventually :trophy: :enos_flag: :100:

Network booting has nothing to do with the INTERNET and more of an INTRANET. Since you are not connecting to a Corporate server locally its nothing you need to worry about.

PXE and HTTP Boot are different network boot methods. If you’re using traditional PXE booting with TFTP, enabling or disabling the HTTP support options makes no difference.

HTTP Boot would only be used if you specifically set up your network environment to support it, which would require HTTP-based boot servers (instead of PXE servers).

The Boot options 2 & 3 may be set to boot from the Nic but these will be changed when you install Eos and also you can select other boot options such as usb. The NIC boot options won’t typically be used by a home user.
