Best way to "mirror" existing EOS installation to a second laptop (Thinkpad T14 Gen 1)?

Yeah… I’m positive the Forgotten Temple of Real Satisfaction must be nearby somewhere…

Thanks! I’m still hopeful. Typing on this keyboard is unbelievably satisfying, a real relief compared to all my other keyboards! So now of course everything else must be made working, too… and I’m known for not giving in until the goal is reached!

For all who follow: Adding the psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=0 kernel parameter seems to have been “it”.

In the last few days, my Thinkpad now has been rebooted several times, been suspended/resumed very often, and even hibernated/resumed a few times.

The touchpad continued to work fine. Phew!

Also interesting:

  • The Feb 2025 UEFI BIOS has a setting for suspend mode: You can set it to “Windows” or “Linux”. I’ve set that to “Linux”, whatever it does. (I wonder if that is a “fastboot” in disguise?)
  • Some people at Lenovo seem to think practical: You can mute speakers (Fn+F1) and microphone (Fn+F4), and a little LED in that keys will come on when it’s muted!
  • The Esc/FnLock also has a LED, just in case you ever want to switch function keys with the special functions. (I set them to be F1–F12 in the BIOS.)
  • The red dot on the “i” in the Thinkpad logo on the lid cover will pulse slowly when in suspend mode, to remind you the laptop isn’t off but only suspended. Nice.
  • There’s no SysRq key (for REISUB), use Fn+S instead.

The older Thinkpads are really lovable machines, I must say!
