Being locked out of newly installed plasma.. what's going on?

I just read this thread:

Nearly all apps crashing and system freezes

I’m leaning towards it being video related. The dkms version is definately better anyway because it rebuilds the kernel modules every time there is an updated kernel.

Does seem similar.
