And here I thought your sense of humour was just upside-down… Live and learn!
Maybe… but at least it circulates down the drain-hole correctly…
If you’re looking at it from underneath…
Wait, what?
You mean… there’s another way?
Sheep bladders. Earthquakes.
There’s ALWAYS another way… but looking at my conky here, I see that it’s likely to be early evening for you - but it’s 10 to 5 am for me - so g’night… be well

is the list of flags and you can right-click on the flag and show png file:

to complete the background … or do we now use another plugin? @anon31549144
We must be using something else…
For example, Norway is “false”, and eu is Europe (not European Union).
seems that our discourse is not using the updated version, or something else
It’s the same plugin but right clicking and checking the filename is a convoluted method and involves an additional web search to check what the two letters mean if you are not familiar with that country code.
I’ve injected some javascript code that adds a title and alt attribute to the flags which is then shown when hovering with the mouse over the image. If you find any discrepancies or errors in the tooltips please let me know. I have added European Union myself as the flag is that of the EU. If it should be Europe, let me know and I’ll change it.
I’ve got the country names through a quick internet search that listed them in a table form and have processed them to match my required format.
Edit: there, i fixed it. Now my add-on uses the same notations as the plugin itself as outlined in the resourse linked by @joekamprad : https://github.com/Ebsy/discourse-nationalflags/blob/master/config/locales/client.en.yml
That’s definitely worth upstreaming if you fancy a PR.
A proper PR would involve adding those attributes in the HTML code itself before output. My solution is rather a workaround, and not an elegant one at that.
Unfortunately I barely speak ruby so I can’t make a proper PR worth adding.
The change should be absolutely trivial for a ruby speaker.
Edit: after a more careful analysis, the changes need to happen in an Ember component not in ruby. I’ll give it a try sometime when I get around to it. Maybe I find a solution worthy of a PR, but can’t promise anything. For now it works decent enough with the workaround.
but it seems we do not use latest version of the plugin, i do pull request a fix fir norway not shown the flag sone times ago upstream, and it was merged there
I think it is the flag of the European Union…
But not a deal breaker for me.
Yeah, the flag is of European Union, but when you choose it in your profile it it says Europe, so I left it at that.
[Edit:]
I don’t think the flag of the European Union is a national flag.
“European” is not a nationality, and even if it was, the European Union is not the same thing as Europe. The United Kingdom, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and others are all European nations, and all are part of the European cultural heritage (they are not any less European than France or Germany), but they are not under the political rule of the European Union.
So, it either shouldn’t exist as an option (which is not ideal, since many people here like to use it), or, the tooltip should at least say “European Union” instead of “Europe” (so that it does not deny the European-ness of Europeans whose nations are not subjects of the European Union).
We do use the latest version, I installed that particular update, but it didn’t work. I have rebuild the forum douzens of times and it still doesn’t work.
I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice.
It is more a sense of community than a definition according to Völker-Europa or other law.
If there was a “One World” flag, I would take that.
If one takes it as a language flag then it results from it whether one could possibly not be so powerful in English.
International Law-, Europe-
Apparently that’s not only the EU flag but also the flag of Europe:
