AVIF: Dolphin and Gwenview

I noticed that both Dolphin and Gwenview do not natively support this ‘new’ image file format (AVIF), so I was wondering if anybody knows how to integrate it.

Atm I ‘solved’ with a simple python automation that converts all files for me, but that seems overkill and probably there is a much easier approach.

Any idea?

A quick search shows you need to install kimageformats, shared-mime-info and libavif. Then you should be able to see thumbnails in Dolphin and open and view files with Gwenview.
