Automatic partitioning during installation

Hello all friends.

Sorry to bother you all with newbie questions on this forum, but the official EndeavourOS subreddit is closed and I don’t know where I should ask these kinds of questions.

I am currently using Fedora and I am a novice user, but still I really want to try Arch, but I feel that it is difficult for me and that’s why I want to install EndeavourOS because that will make it easier for me to install.

I have seen several video tutorials on how to install EndeavourOS and I am ready to install it. But I have a question. Is there an option during the installation of EndeavourOS similar to the Fedora installation “Click here to create them automatically” that automatically creates all the partitions needed to install EndeavourOS?

Thanks in advance for your time and effort.

EDIT:

I’m sorry! I forgot to say that I have 1 hard drive with dual boot Windows 10 + Fedora 38. I have reinstalled Fedora 38 (2 times), deleting all Fedora 38 partitions, clicking on the free space and clicking “Click here to create them automatically”. So I can format fedora 38 next to windows 10 without deleting windows 10.

(In the future I want to leave Windows permanently and make EndeavourOs my only OS, then the installation will be easier because I just have to click “erase disk” and install, but for now I need Windows in case something goes wrong )

So, now I want to remove Fedora 38, and use that new Fedora free space to install EndeavourOS alongside Windows 10.

After removing partitions from Fedora 38 and selecting Free Space, how do I create partitions automatically like in Fedora? (I mean is there a button like “Click here to create them automatically” like in Fedora?)

I am sorry for my bad english friends!

(I got these screenshots from the internet)

That is what we are here for :grinning:

Yes, you can choose “Erase disk”, “Install alongside” or “Replace partition”. Any of those options will automatically partition your disk.

If you simply want to use the whole disk for EOS, choose “Erase Disk”.

Those screens will look differently for you. That is what it looks like when the disk is empty.

You should be able to choose “Replace partition” and select the space for Fedora is/was.

Oh, I see. So, I’m going to install the EndeavourOS ISO on my flash drive and start the installation tomorrow morning! I’ll update this thread if I manage to get EndeavourOS installed.

Thanks again friend!

Good morning friend.

I’m in the EndeavourOS installer, I selected Manual partitioning (screenshot 1).

I deleted the Fedora sd4/sd5/sd6 partitions (screenshot 2). (sd1/sd2/sd3 is Windows 10, I want to have Windows 10 + EndeavourOS with dual boot as with Fedora so far)

I selected the Free Space (screenshot 3).

I hit create partition and added all the Free Space (screenshot 4).

I selected New partition (screenshot 5).

I hit Next but it doesn’t work. I can’t find a button to create all partitions automatically. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Use replace partition instead of manual partitioning.

If you want to use manual partitioning you need to set mount points

For some reason it won’t let me click Next when selecting Replace a partition.

You need to click on the partition you want to replace in the bottom section.

Thanks, that was the problem, solved!

Although I would like to learn how to partition manually, so I’ve opened a new thread about it so as not to lengthen this one.

Thanks again friend!
