Audio jack doesn't switch from speaker to headphones

It’s been a couple of weeks now that I cannot hear any sound coming out of my headphones when I plug them in via jack on lenovo carbon x1 with Tiger Lake-LP Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller for speaker and headphones

When I open pavu control I can see the option to choose the headphones but it says they are unplugged. When I toggle between speaker and headphones I can hear a brief sound in the headphones then nada. Which tells me maybe software related. Any help appreciated.
