Audio failure with 6.17 kernel (2019 iMac) revisited - and solved

When I update to 6.17 (from 6.16) kernel the audio stops working on my 2019 iMac desktop. This isn’t the first time - actually, it’s the usual dance I have to do since the fix is to re-run the snd-hda-codec-cs8409 patch. [Which can be found: here.] In the past it all works out eventually - after multiple attempts. But not this time. I’ve used timeshift several times again to return to 6.16, which immediately resolves the audio problem. But I can’t be stuck with 6.16 forever, So… The problem s…

I was ultimately led to this solution for a replacement driver for MacBookPro that works perfectly on my 2019 iMac:

I had been stuck using the LTS (6.12) kernel for a while. But using this driver patch above solved the problem. I can now play audio on this Apple desktop again when booting up into kernel 6.17.9 (zen).

Hope this info helps someone struggling with a solution to a similar problem here in EOS world.
