Greetings!
I want to install EndeavourOS on the Asus G750JX. Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M is installed. Do I have to follow any specific steps for Nvidia during installation? I have never encountered Nvidia on Linux, so I have no idea about the difficulties that may arise…
The GTX 770M is supported by 418.xx drivers but they aren’t available i don’t think. You would have to install the 390.xx version which are in the AUR. I think i would boot on the live ISO first and see if it works. Then i would probably install it using the default menu not the nvidia one which would install nouveau open source drivers. Then after the installation you could run nvidia-inst -t
to see what it shows. This is just a test using nvidia-inst
which you have to install first i think. It may install from the live ISO using the nvidia option but since it won’t install the drivers it would probably just install with the nouveau open source drivers but I’m not positive. That’s what i think would happen.
Edit: The test run with nvidia-inst -t will show how and what to install but you can also install the 390.xx version from the AUR. It has the nvidia-390xx-dkms
, nvidia-390xx-utils which is a dependency and also nvidia-390xx-settings.
Thanks for the reply
But I abandoned this idea - I couldn’t set the desired resolution of the second monitor. So I installed Windows 10 again and everything works “by itself” there. It doesn’t really matter - the computer lives out its years and is used by the wife to watch TV series on an external monitor. This is the only one of the five computers remaining under Windows.
I think I’ll close the topic.
Thanks again
