I don’t think Wayland has issues. In fact I think it is in good shape.
The problems lie in how well the different Desktop Environments have adapted to Wayland.
Gnome Wayland is very good from my minimal usage.
Plasma Wayland is very good
Cinnamon They still call Wayland experimental, but it is good.
Xfce4 Wayland still has a long way to go
LXQT Wayland still has a long way to go
Sway Window Manager is very good.
That’s about all I have had Wayland experience with.
