Hello. After upgrading few packages (including aom, bluez and Linux kernel 6.5.5 ) so wonky on EndeavourOS Galileo. After rebooting i met the strange. KDE Plasma 5 login to desktop so slow than usual. And wifi and sound is unavailable. When attempting to reboot stuck on stopping wpa supplicant and networkmanager daemon. Luckyfy i have snapshot via timeshift to follback to previous state.
When Linux Mint 21.3 officially released on christmas i’ll install imedately replacing EndeavouOS Galileo.
Arch Linux is rolling release, things can break when packages are updated to the latest release since Arch Linux isn’t a stable distribution but as stable as you the user make it yourself. What do you expect? You don’t have to announce your departure to Linux Mint because you are not at an airport, but it doesn’t have to be a good bye because there are still forum members here that use other distributions other than Arch/EndeavourOS.
Blaming your inexperience and lack of Knowledge on an OS will never help you actually learn. I’m sorry your having a hard time however this is what happens when you just jump into things without doing the proper research. It’s not the fault of the OS that the User doesn’t know how to USE it.
yes of course. i’ll do it. but now Linux Mint 21.3 still beta phase. maybe about 1 weeks or 2 weeks will generally available (RTM) and i’ll download and install immediately.
did you know i’m first time try and learn linux in 2021, and my first distro is Linux Mint 20.x Cinnamon.
@Reno-Sifana There are many adages/sayings worth knowing…especially as they relate to your experience. Here is a widely used proverb:
“Look before you leap.”
Remember what the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said long ago:
“The wise man knows he doesn’t know.
The fool doesn’t know he doesn’t know.”
To your “consolation”, you are not alone in having issues after some update.
I have seen quite a few reports on the forum during the past week or so about issues after system update.
One similar (at the surface of the things at least) to yours is this one:
Use whatever system that you feel comfortable with. You could always come back to Arch and its descendants whenever you feel like to.
i would say eos (and linux in general) is used by those who consider problems an opportunity to learn. but i realise it can be trying at times and i haven’t experienced whatever it is youre describing. there are content creators like oldtechbloke who praised eos by reiterating “i just works”, he said he has never had a problem with it
No matter who praises what you have to keep in mind that each is going by their own experience and preferences. They do not know how you are using a Computer. They do not know what kind of work flow you are used to. They don’t know your preferences. While these creators can be a good source to show off Distro’s they should be taken with a grain of salt.
I wanna to downgrade to linux-lts via akm. But after rebooting i can’t select Linux-lts via grub menu. (Advanced option) because no options.Unfortunally i can’t boot to linux because main kernels have been uninstalled via command sudo pacman -Rsn linux linux-headers lol. So i first time i learn chrooting to install main kernel lol. thanks @joekamprad for the guides via discovery.
Apparently you are having a bad day in yoru i3 2GB RAM laptop. Trust me I have had my days with Arch Linux because if you are living on the bleeding edge where packages are changing daily your system will eventually break. You just have to search for the term “downgrade” and see how often people in this community are helping each other track a problem down, to find an upsteam bug and we downgrade the specific problem package.
Now I have flag your post as inappropriate since it really is click bait. If you want to write on your Facebook\Twitter account like that (showing your level of intelligence and maturity please do).
But atleast in EndeavourOS there is a group of intelligent, empathetic technically minded users who work together to support one another in growing our knowledge. And you know when we find problems we do try to fix what we can or file bugs upstream to contribute to a better product.
You have been here since Jan 2022, with around 32 posts where the greats like @joekamprad have engaged to help you. Now I’m not telling you to stay with us. If you want a system that just works, you should go close source and get a Mac (they have a closed hardware and software platform where substantial testing is done).
But if you want a Linux machine, then you need to do your homework. People who succeed in Linux are life time learners … or just buy a computer from a vendor specializing in Linux. So best of luck to you.
