Does anyone have any experience with pcloud?
I am looking for a place to keep my backups that isn’t that expensive.
Thinking on jumping on one of their lifetime storage deals.

Been using it for years, but recently switched to filen.io. It’s just cheaper for the month-to-month subscription.
Of course, a lifetime plan would pay itself off eventually. I fully recommend either one.
And on that note, Filen also has lifetime plans. A LOT CHEAPER TOO. But pCloud is older, so if you wanna got for something that’s been around for a while.
Note: Make sure you don’t have really long file names. They may not sync. Then again, this may be an Icedrive issue? I don’t remember, but just in case. I’m thinking it was actually Icedrive now that I really think about it.
I considered filen but since truenas has an integration with pcloud that would be a lot easier to manage.
Thanks for the feedback!
I’ve been using it for years (life time subscription). Works fine. You can choose several local folders to be in sync with several remote folders (with filters) and you also mount the whole pcloud drive as a remote drive.
Of course, you might want to test it for free before.
Got the lifetime. It does the job but I’ve had some hiccups. The portable client packaging and way it mounts the drive leads to some strange permission issues sometimes. Permission will be denied for specific tasks and chowning the directory or drive will break something or another. Have contacted support and gotten no answer. Doesn’t happen super often, though. If it’s just for your backups you should be fine.
I use it incidentally (free) for backup of documents that I would like to safeguard and have access to on any OS that I’m using (phone, Linux, Windows). I haven’t had any issues, but as I say, my use is light.
I would prefer it be a native package and not the AppImage that it is…but it works.
Thanks everyone. I have been testing it out for my needs it seems to work.
I sent 500GB of data up and it was fast. I did some test restores and everything seemed to work.
I am not using any of their tools. I am using rclone to push/pull the data from plcoud.
