After yesterday’s pipewire upgrade, I can’t access my Bluetooth headphones, and the sound only works after I unplug and replug my speakers. Is anyone else seeing this?
No, everthing is working here. No issues.
Hmmm…I’ve rebooted into the LTS kernel, downgraded pipewire & it’s depends, booted into the zen kernel & plugged in a wired headphone set…still no sound.
I can boot into my backup Endeavor install (not updated yet) & sound works normally.
I looked in the pacman logs & the only things recently are the zen kernel update & pipewire update…any ideas anyone? I know my sound worked before that set of updates…
I’m using the default kernel ‘linux’. I can boot into the ZEN kernel for cross checks later.
Nope. No issues at all. My plug-in speakers work fine and my old Beats Bluetooth headphones are working as expected. I checked performance with all three of my installed kernels (linux-lts 6.12.18-1
. linux-zen 6.13.6.zen1-1
, and linux 6.13.6.arch1-1
).
OK—I re-updated pipewire…no change. If this continues, I’ll redo my installation using the backup OS, but I really want to find the reason before I do that.
Had you checked the configuration in pavucontrol applet to control if your audio card is on?
Then, you could check with qpwgraph if your device needs to be plugged to your application…
No issues on any of my hardware. Desktops or laptops.
Issue being reported here as well: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=304079. Maybe one of the workarounds will help you.
OK—installing pipewire-pulse got my onboard line out working–it also made the Bluetooth work again. This is an “old” (see below) install & it looks like pulseaudio was still controlling outputs, so when the update changed the profile (alsa-card-profile), no outputs were available. I had to also uninstall pulseaudio-bluetooth in this process.

Post #12 fixed it for me. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=304079
Added information…I just did the backup install the same way & it also worked after the update. Both installs are clones of the same start date.
If this fix is needed depends on when the OS was installed.
Same here, sound is working fine on both of my systems.
It looks like the latest PipeWire update might be causing Bluetooth and audio issues for some users. You’re not alone—others have reported similar problems. A possible workaround is to restart the PipeWire service or roll back to a previous version if necessary.
If you’re looking for a quick fix, try resetting Bluetooth (systemctl restart bluetooth.service
) or reloading PipeWire (systemctl --user restart pipewire
). Also, if you’re shopping for new audio gear, checking out deals through Max Discount Codes could help you save on upgrades. Let us know if you find a solid fix!
