Any users here running Endeavour Budgie 10.10?

What’s your experience like?

I might install this and–my new (used) SSD is coming today.

It would be my first Wayland DE and I have no idea if that’s a PITA or Fantastic.

Thanks

I have tested it a couple of weeks ago. It seemed…not ready. Lots of minor issues all over the place.

I think if you choose Budgie in it’s current state on Arch, I don’t think you are going to have a very positive first Wayland experience. Maybe wait for the next Budgie version or try Wayland with more mature environment (Gnome/KDE/Hyprland/etc)

General observation, I haven’t tried Budgie in a couple of years, but custom desktops tend to work definitely better on the distros they’re developed on.

interesting, thank you. I wondered why they bothered and didn’t go straight to 11 then? Oh well. I will keep Cinnamon.

The Solus Budgie experience is stuck in 10.9/X11. They don’t think it’s ready yet for 10.10.

I think it varies. Some are challenging outside their distros. i.e. Pantheon, Deepin, Trinity etc. Others are much better. i.e. Cinnamon, Cosmic, etc.

I think with the most recent version of Budgie, it is just isn’t ready for broad production use. I am not even sure 10.10 is available in Solus yet, is it?

in the works but not available yet
