Hi all, EOS/Arch/Linux-on-a-PC newbie from Singapore! Spent most of my time of server-side of things (mostly defaulting to Ubuntu LTS images) with VPSs and not sure exactly when or what was the trigger to migrate from daily driving with Win11 to Linux. :))
Am so happy I start (and will stick) with EOS!
What I did was spending at least 1-mth of YT videos, reading this forum, understanding the concepts and logics first. Dual-booting (seperate disks - my mobo have 2 NVME M.2 slots) for now and for the past 1 mth, been daily-driving EOS… and loving it!
I document every changes, configs and updates I made, to ensure that every single command is with as much understanding on the why and the what… and the AUR repos installations thus far all done without yay to learn better.
Thus far, the biggest ticket items i managed to pull off:
– Installing CoolerControl for controlling my fans’ curves - this require the modprobe tweaks and finding out my mobo’s (X870 Asrock Pro RS) controller chips - mostly on the lm_sensors and sensors part of things
– Installing Corectrl for managing my AMD GPU (5600xt) - this forums threads helps so much!
– systemd unit mounts and automounts for my internal disks (vs using the fstab file) - now im happy having access to my other internal NVME’s partition at boot.
– Using rclone to access my OneDrive and running a simple script to run the command and add it to the autostart menu -this takes the longest time for me to setup and learn… Next up is Google Drive and Google Photos…
Im left with the backups side of things… Timeshift? Clonezilla? (more familiar with Clonezilla)… and auto-sync up to the cloud upon completion perhaps?
Once that is done, will continue to learn, explore and enjoy the absolute breathe of fresh air with EOS and daily-driving it…
Thank you to the mods, contributors, and devs for making my journey into this new world much more enjoyable!
