Hello, first of all, I will present myself…
My name is Vinicius, from Brazil, and linux user since 2010 (13 years), in this time I’ve just used Linux, and no one other system (except FreeBSD).
I have many experience with linux, with years and years working as SysAdmin inside a datacenter, managing a lot of servers, with a lot of VM’s, firewalls, security rules and others, so I have a great experience with linux.
in this time too, I have chance to try many distros starting from Ubuntu (in that time 10.04), going to linux mint, zorin, kdeneon, elementary os, pclinuxos, popOS, kubuntu, xubuntu, debian, sabayon, gentoo, slackware, manjaro, centos, fedora, redhat (and others, I will stop here, because the list was big).
Today I’m working as DevOps Engineer / SRE, and keep using Linux, in this time, Arch linux (vanilla), and don’t have knowledge problems to solve possibles problemas with my system, but still have problems with “time” to solve possible problems (yes, I don’t have a lot of time to work to fix a simple problem in my own machine), and I need this with arch (not everyday, but in some cases).
Now I’m thinking in migrate from arch to other distro, that hold-me for less time to maintain it, but I don’t like 100% automated distros, I like to have system “on my hand”, other problem too, is that I dont’t like deb (apt, synaptics and others), I prefer rpm / yum, but the best package manager that I used in linux is pacman / yay (from arch), so I try to find my new distro, arch based (because of the pacman / yay), or RPM (deb not, please).
In my serches I found EOS, and love it, try in a virtual machine, it’s like arch that I accustomed, but with some tools that can help in maintain my system, and a forum that appear to be friendlier that arch forum.
I will migrate my personal machine to EOS at the next thursday, and hope that I can help and be an active member on this community, helping others, and get helped if necessary.
Thanks!
