All USB ports broken after kernel update

After I updated to linux 6.14.4.arch1-1 all of the USB ports on my laptop fails to recognize any devices I plug into them. Switching to linux-lts 6.12.25-1 fixes the issue though.

Hardware info: Dell Inspiron 3442 (service tag DNRW812), Intel Core i5-4210U.

Did you reboot after the update? Was the ports broken after reboot?

I think it was a combination of not rebooting and waking up from hibernating, everything seems to work now.

Yes, anytime you touch the kernel, reboot.

That reminds me… I’ve not had a “reboot recommended” notification the last several kernel updates.

I turn mine off, I don’t need to be told anymore.

Neither do I. But, if the OP didn’t get this notification, it could be a problem. Minor, but a problem nonetheless.

Strange, still getting the reboot recommendations here
