Additonal "Wayland" Symbol

I have googled a bit now and only seem to find answers related to changing the Symbol of Apps having a Wayland symbol instead of their proper symbol. But that isn’t what I’m looking for.

My “Problem” is mostly about games. Certain games would have basically 2 Instances in my Taskbar. One being the Game and the other one is a “Wayland” Icon. I now wonder is there a way to get rid of that behaviour? One such game would be Deep Rock Gallactic for example.

I’m using Plasma.

I got this with a few applications when the open an initial window and then open the main window (looking at you eclipse). For eclipse it was cured by pinning it to the task bar.

This just started happening to me.

Only with the Text Editor app (Xed).

How it looked before:
2

How it looks now (icon is now a ?):
1

When I open Xed:
3

But it’s fine if I add it to “favorites”:

I’m using Panel Colorizer. I disabled it and and the ?/W still occurs.

VERY weird. It seems to be a Wayland issue of some sort. I logged out and logged back in to X session. The ? / W icon was still there. I removed it from the panel and added it back. It was as it should be with the proper, default icon. Logged out of X session and logged back into Wayland session and now all is well. Though opening Xed still shows the W at the end of the panel. Still a bit odd.
