Activation of Network Connection Failed [recurrent error]

Screenshot_2021-10-10_18-50-20

Im using Endeavour with gnome, and a ethernet cable conection. For several days i had no problem. It miight be a coincidence, but after I installed the Brave Browser the error started to appear, but it persists even after uninstalled, so i dont think thats the cause.

The error "[Connection Failed] Activationj of Network connection failed". shows up quite random, but it is more common if i leave the computer idle for around 20 minutes. (its not a problem with my ehernet connections, since the rest of my devices are still connected to the internet).

I’ve tried turning off the connection, turning off the modem and router, disconecting the ethernet cable, stoping and restarting the NetworkManager, login out, but the error persists.

The only wasy to fix it is restaring the computer.

these are the logs of the status of the NetworkManager.

$ sudo systemctl status NetworkManager

Can you give hardware info and bootlog please?

inxi -N >> log.txt && journalctl -b -0 >> log.txt && cat log.txt | eos-sendlog

your ISP connection / Router is ipv4 only? you could try to disable ipv6 in NM-settings.

Maybe this is a r8168 driver package issue.
If that’s the case, then either

  • reinstall r8168 and reboot
    or
  • uninstall r8168 and reboot

I’d guess the latter helps.

And if neither of them helps, then further info will be required.

This one solved the problem.

First I did a:

sudo pacman -S r8168

And the rebooted my PC. Which made me not being able to connect to the internet at all, the internet option was not available.

Fortunately, a simple

sudo pacman -R r8168

Solved the problem. And now, the internet connection is maintained without any problem.
