From what I can see, the person who reacted with the “poop” icon most likely didn’t intend to seriously offend you, though I understand how it might have come across.

From what I’ve seen people mostly use that when someone leaves a reply that they either strongly disagree with or that they think that the shared opinion is shit. I’ve never seen it used to insult someone.

Thing is: Nowadays people are insulted by other people’s opinion about their own opinion. I read the term “offenderitis” last week for the first time, but it fits quite well to the times we live in…

I also don’t think there was any ill intention with the “poop” icon to the OP personally. They may be more sensitive than some others here online than maybe some of the longer time members. I don’t think it was meant as an insult.

There is no way of judging objectively the intention behind using these emojis which both perhaps is used in way to express strong disagreement.
Also, I for one, could not really tell if someone pooping or vomiting on my post intend not to be insulting.
The thumb down emoji could very well be used for showing disagreement in a more neutral and non insulting way.
