That seems the normal boot screenshot and startup of system services.

I am not sure about the problem but to my understanding seems you are having trouble switching from tty back to your desktop.

I mean you can use the terminal in xfce to conduct the same commands than in tty, just saying. You could also simply use the command reboot in tty and get back to your desktop?

yes

yes. so I find this issue accidently. I use endevaourOS on my laptop(KDE),too. that is fine with tty and kde plasma.

if I do not turn tty2. desktop works fine. Most case I just use desktop. With serveral times test, reboot not work every time. If so I need to force shutdown by long press button.

the screen is TTY1 (with the code lines) you need to switch back to TTY7 in most cases…

Strange, maybe worth if someone in the forum tests on xfce. As a side note, I would rather recommend typing the reboot in tty to safely reboot or enable reisub. Force shut down could potentially corrupt your file system.

[Tip] Enable Magic SysRq Key (REISUB)

I think tty1 is DE desktop for a long time

depending …

yep. I try tty7 on Kds plasma. tty7 got nothing.

mine is on TTY2

what ? which de you use?

it is caused by using LY as login manager …

On my XFCE4 install with lightdm it is on TTY7.

Even better, if you have access to the TTY, you can reboot by just issuing:

reboot

But in case the system is frozen completely, then REISUB is good. Never use the power button to reboot or shut down.

I do use power button for a few time when using arch, manjaro, endevaour(now)…it seems fine. But as you say. do not do that agagin

Thanks for your guy’s advices, which helps and I really learn a lot. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
