Iāve heard this so many times, and I still cringe hard everytime I hear it. Every. Single. Time. Itās the most wrong, and disheartening thing I could imagine.
I always ask the ones with nothing to hide for the gmail address and password. Since you have nothing to hide you wonāt mind if I just peruse your stuff will you? The look they give you is priceless.
D-googled phone and never ever log into or use any google products for 3 yrs now.
Yeah, same here, at that point itās the most natural human reaction⦠![]()
Which in turn gets you into state of the most natural cringeā¦
Followed by the most natural calling you paranoid conspiracy theorist etc ![]()
You have to wake them up by pointing out that infact they do have something to Protect. The media always labels it Hiding something instead of the truth which is Protecting something. As I hope I pointed out earlier in this thread when someone made the claim about their data. People do care about their finances, medical information and other information one has to choose not to become public knowledge because they feel its no ones business. As these Corporations have a Right to Own their products we should have the right to own our information. We should have a right to decide who that data is shared with and who itās not. There should be lawās of transparency of What information is being collected whoās getting a copy? how much money are they making off of my information and how can I claim my share of the money? Surely I get to put the price on what i feel my information is worth. I mean its my information correct??? ![]()
Technically, it is an information about you.
So it may not belong to you.
I am not sure if it is correct english translation but in the past it was viewed as āhaving a folder on someoneā (when someone wants to blackmail you or something like that).
Even so its myne. They collected it without my express written consent. Something I would need from them. If they were not connecting straight to a device that contains my information but collected information by other means (ie spyās observing me. Getting information from other sources) then it would infact be information about me and not my information however since they are deceiving in their collecting it from my device i would say its still my information and not thiers to do what they wish
This misguided sentiment is so prevalent, there is a whole Wikipedia article about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_to_hide_argument
Snowden pretty much nailed it in his memoir:
āThere is, simply, no way, to ignore privacy. Because a citizenryās freedoms are interdependent, to surrender your own privacy is really to surrender everyoneās. You might choose to give it up out of convenience, or under the popular pretext that privacy is only required by those who have something to hide. But saying that you donāt need or want privacy because you have nothing to hide is to assume that no one should have, or could have to hide anything ā including their immigration status, unemployment history, financial history, and health records. Youāre assuming that no one, including yourself, might object to revealing to anyone information about their religious beliefs, political affiliations and sexual activities, as casually as some choose to reveal their movie and music tastes and reading preferences.
Ultimately, saying that you donāt care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different from saying you donāt care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say. Or that you donāt care about freedom of the press because you donāt like to read. Or that you donāt care about freedom of religion because you donāt believe in God. Or that you donāt care about the freedom to peaceably assemble because youāre a lazy, antisocial agoraphobe. Just because this or that freedom might not have meaning to you today doesnāt mean that that it doesnāt or wonāt have meaning tomorrow, to you, or to your neighbor ā or to the crowds of principled dissidents I was following on my phone who were protesting halfway across the planet, hoping to gain just a fraction of the freedom that my country was busily dismantling.ā
ā Edward Snowden, Permanent Record
Unfortunately privacy is ignored everyday because there are no rules to stop these platforms from using our data to invade it and make money by doing so. Google is great at security to keep others out but when it comes to our privacy they use all of our data for their own purposes.
Yes, that is more or less what this topic is about.
this is because security is for them not you.
Iām getting my own back on Google by spying on them. Every day I go on Google Maps and navigate to their HQ, then sit there staring through their windows.

I hope you are providing a little feed back with the middle finger. lol
If youāre a forum moderator, why did your account profile say you were suspended?
I am human not AI! Being a moderator is irrelevant. It is important to set an example that we expect from other users. At times we all need to refocus. ![]()
Ah, the good ol āyou need a timeoutā ⦠![]()
Well⦠welcome back ![]()
It doesnāt make any sense at all!
Why you would buy a google phone to be de-googled? In this case you will getting worst, because they own rights on the low-level code. Changing OS will be not the solution but less than partial (and you will keep to make them richer).
Consider Fairphone:
Here, I have to be clear⦠you can buy a phone with same specifics as Fairphone with less than the half of the price when buying it.
But you have to consider a huge amount of benefits:
1 - (the most important) Fairphone buy coltan from non-conflict zone and try to give to african people a little bit of dignity;
2- They have a recycle program, so part of their products are made with recycled stuff! Part of coltan, litium, gold, plastic and others are recycled and the Fairphone is made with that recycled stuff;
3 - You can open the phone!!! So, you can remove battery, but not only: the phone keep in mind the idea of ākeep in lifeā itself, so each single part of it can be changed directly by the user. Indeed, there are no support center around the world, just four or five, because it will be the user to change the battery, or the screen, or usb, or the camera, just ordering them from their site and using a screwdriver. Thatās because the main idea is to avoid generating new electronic waste and make you keep your phone for more years as possible;
4 - the cpu is basically for IoT; the choose of it is for give support for more years. Android will be upgrade for five major releases and security patches for seven/eight years and they are try to assure more years;
5 - You have root permission unblocked!!! So you can switch easily to other OSes. Indeed, when they close the support for a phone model, they invite to keep your phone and install an open-source OS like e/OS or LineageOS.
Keep in mind that general quality is good, but if you like phones with very good audio quality or performance it is not for your case of use.
It costs almost as an Iphone but personally I like it so much, also if some audio quality could be better, both for phone calls than audio reproduction.
For me, it was a radical choice because I want that slavery of the minerals finish.
I bought it for the point n.1 described above.
I invite you all to think about that!
Iām in the same boat, i have bought a used pixel 4a and loaded LineageOS on it, working fine without any Google services.
I use Aurora store for apps that i need without having a Google account
So yes iām close to replace my daily Samsung with the pixel, Goodby Google!
I mean⦠could be the way incognito mode was/is offered sugesting users that it does not track any data⦠but i am not sure if details was unclear about that, it is an option to watch prn while may your wife will not see what you where searching⦠nothing more or lessā¦
Could be google adde dthe feature only be the reason to just get the good info tracked⦠they eat such info for breakfast to offer you better prn donāt you understand? ![]()
And the article is only about a 5 Billion $ settlement thats something used to not tell the truth but close the topic ā¦
There is nothing free, we know that we pay for that every second of our lifes.
I wish more people tried not to use Google, not on their phone, not when searching, not as an email service and not to find their way to the porn cinema. But thatās not really an easy task that anyone can do overnight without a deeper understandingā¦
Thats similar to useing Linux instead of Mickeymousegello we are only some but we try every day to resist ![]()
Somethings big corpoās do all to well.
When I grew up I used to hear When ever you get something for free someone else isnāt getting what they paid for. Itās interesting to me now to see how very untrue that is in todays time. Now whenever you get something for free YOUR THE PRODUCT.
The problem here is Naming. The issues isnāt Google but Alphabet the company who owns Google. Alphabet unfortunately is all over the board from my understanding so to boycott those products can sometimes just be un-doable. IE you use a product which relies on an Alphabet product.
Keep the Good Fight
