Not very safe is it? To connect XP to the www.
Iād trust the update app of the device you are updating insofar as you can trust it on Windows 10. Other than that you should be safe running it in a VM and only navigating to the app download site for the initial install of that app (i.e. avoiding the āYou are the lucky 10000th visitor. But what if this prize is irresistible?
I think Iāll stick to the W10 ltsc that I have now, I may fool around with refind or remove the disk if I donāt need it.
(I was able to boot from usb with the regular W10, but this lts fails to do soā¦)
These last few posts remind me that Iāve a little craptop sitting under a pile of paper work, this poor thing ah it gets switched on connected goes online to garmin satnav updates do updates , ignore ALL windows messages and when garmin is finished poor little craptop gets shutdown for another six months , well so far so good and due for another garmin updates cycle at end of year ,
That to me is shameful really is terrible way to use a machine and there is no choice but to do that,
but on the subject of good bad usable easy Linux Distros one thing I found is that what Iād like to have run OS on (especially ) this DeskBox isnāt always what the DeskBox will work with , there some amazing Distros and this uah comput will not run even install so not a chance to run on Distro whatever,
take your time and select about four distros download , verify and install hopefully run each for x amount of time at least a few days find any weaknesses in apps you use ( depends on your scheduled ) a few bits of A4 paper is good for later confirming any decisions , one thing that I Know for sure you cannot go wrong in any way with Linux because with Linux you have freedom to change your mind and safety in knowing if Distro A doesnāt fit or work there are plenty more choices and while your trying Distros and reading in their forums you can learn so much
I say enjoy your travels and freedom in Linux Land.
Thank you I will shut up now
