A new system - a new discovery

Compilers for what? Every language has it’s own compilers. Sometimes more than one. Usually the package you want to build will automatically install any compilers you need to build it.

Well… I’ve put time and tears into mine… hahaha… I wouldn’t call it a typical “I’m better than others wanilla”… lol… buut… I at one point was installing, formatting and reinstalling… roughly 3 times a day… recently to make sure I was learning what it’s meant to “teach”… I have learned a lot… but the journey only just begun… for the record I have used the installers in the beginning because dam it walls (remove walls) I needed to see in the logs files. What I wasn’t doing that the installer was… cause I continued to fail booting… and it continued to fail at impressive after booting… (installer is a buzz killer) immediately after I’d format and try again… 9 days was what it took me… before I installed it for the first time… then being clever formatted to prove it was me and no fluke, then it took 5 days hahahaha

Okay, so if I were regularly compiling kernels? As a starting point… you are saying not all compilers do all things equally?.. hmm… I see…

The Linux kernel is written in the C programming language, so you would compile it with a C compiler. Your system already has the GNU Compiler Collection, which includes the GNU C compiler.

The default C compiler (in our case GCC) is invoked by running the command cc. Try it out:

$ cc --version

So Then just because it’s adequate for kernel duties doesn’t necessarily mean it’s adequate for web development??:thinking: so having more than one compiler is advised?

Web pages are interpreted by the browser, they don’t need to be compiled :grin:

There are dozens of commonly used programming languages. While you could use C for web development, most people wouldn’t do so. That being said, there are many, many commonly used programming langues used in web development.

It is hard to advise without knowing why you want to know. Are you collecting compilers?

One day we could have a shortage… I’d prefer to have the monopoly hahaha… no kidding, no, I mean… I have the full monty of Gcc… I then have the wasi compilers and 2 others… I’m trying to work on my HTML docs (web design) and old fashioned from scratch… along with software engineering antics… sorry I haven’t got a lot of knowledge in these fields… I’m in my first year, and I know as best as I’m explaining it… so, in advance, I wish it wasn’t so lol…

You should probably listen to what your professors tell you and do it like that, at least for now, until you know enough to see that they are all wrong :rofl:

When did I say compiling of a website?? You must of mistaken my words… hold on let me see I probably worded it badly

Oh no I never referred to compiling websites hahaha… I meant to following from web things… I can’t use IDEs… it’s not appealing… catch my drift? Or we dont have professers here in SA…

You gents have been great, I appreciate the hospitality. I’ll definitely lend out my compilers if there happens to be a shortage… hahaha… I’m going to go and continue to further my compiler knowledge and so forth… until next time…

I wonder does endeavour OS… why haven’t I tried this one… hmm… shot :slight_smile:
