not up to speed yet with paru, recently changed to it from yay
These probably go in the other thread now too.
I’m fine with it if everyone thinks is the better option. I don’t really care anymore. Mods can change it.
This is just one way.
Your Guide is perfect the way it is. It gives anyone a great starting point. People will always find something wrong with something they didn’t contribute to. We all learn our own ways and we all have our preferred work flow. This Guide is perfect for getting people started on this journey. People with intelligence will be able to adjust to their preferences while others will just complain. And the ones who complain well there is no pleasing them anyway.
Yay!
yay !
I made a “cheat sheet” for this guide that I keep in my documents folder for my personal use. A quick and easy condensed version for me to use. Perhaps others will find this useful.

why not just make them aliases?
Sure, definitely a good option. I just wanted a condensed version of the original tutorial. Kind of a middle ground between the detailed original from @fbodymechanic and aliases.
Could you pls explain this one? I’m a newbie, don’t know how to use it
Please see original post for complete explanations on each step.
nice. . .
Rich;)
Is this still a up-to-date guide or have there been any changes in EOS?
Shows it was last updated Oct 17/23.
As far as I can tell, nothing in this guide is out of date.
There have been many changes in EOS along the way but nothing that would affect following this simple guide to maintaining EOS. There is also the Arch wiki which is good to look through.
I still use this guide. No issues at all.
That will very likely be my last update ever. Not only did this guide ruin friendships, I don’t come here much anymore as the forum community has turned a very toxic and uninviting place to be these days. The community that made EOS famous, is long gone at this point. But unless there’s some change to the basics of updates, this should be relevant to everyone for a very long time.
You and your contributions are very much missed. However I do understand. People get so confused as to, what is what, any more because of such a perversion of our language. I mean at one time people understood a guide was something that points you in a direction now they believe it to be a gps which tells you what to do and how to do it. So they get upset because they don’t understand basic language and we live in a world that just wants to point blame and not accept responsibility for ones own behavior.
Good Luck to all your Endeavors.
Has it? I don’t feel like it has, honestly.
I am sorry to see you go. You provided a lot of great information, and this idiot’s guide was one of the first posts I read and the first one I bookmarked when I joind EOS and began my arch journey. It has been very helpful. Best of luck and thanks for all your contributions. Cheers
