64-bit ARM for Raspberry Pi 4?

As of now, Arch Linux Arm does not have an image for the Odroid C4 yet. So until they offer an image for the C4 it won’t work with the script,

When an image is available, this will be a good candidate for EndeavourOS arm.

If I remember correctly, I read in a post somewhere that the graphics was the issue and they were working on it. But don’t quote me on that as I can’t find the post again.

Oops, sorry, my bad.

No blood, no foul. As a kid that is what we said when playing street hockey.

A very Canadian attitude that! Of course, blood comes easily when playing in shorts… (or if a rock adheres to the ball, and ends up hitting on a head!)

Thanks all for the information and links. very interesting read :+1: great feedback!

EDIT: I have always used my RPi4 with a passive cooling case like the…

Jun_Electronic for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Case with Aluminum Alloy Heatsink Pillar

(not sure if it’s ok to insert AtoZ links?)

I found this case to be excellent for the Raspberry Pi OS (it reduced the temperature by 13’C in my tests with and without case), so will be interesting to see how effective it will be with Endeavour OS.

My sons Pi with passive cooling looks like this:

Metal heat sink case, and it works!

…and no, all my books are not in the shelves yet.

that looks like a metal case as well

It is.

Here is a review comparing the new Odroid N2+ to the old Odroid N2.

Notice the eighth (at this posting) comment down.

He mentioned in the review that the heat sink was shorter and he didn’t know why.

The N2+ I believe ships with a slim line fan with some stand offs. Evidently his early shipment did not include it. I have one on pre order, should be shipped next Monday. We will see if this one has the fan.

@Pudge
I’m thinking of getting the new Raspberry Pi 400. They are available and around 134.99 Cdn plus tax and shipping. They run 1.8 Ghz and the cooling issue seems to be solved. It’s all in one keyboard and comes with mouse and power adapter and Raspberry pi on 16 GB SD i think. Will the EndeavourOS Arm work on it. I guess the idea would be to get a larger SD card?

Edit: These are only 4GB memory but have all the ports on it including GB ethernet 2 mini Hdmi and USB 3.0

Should be fine. It’s a Pi4 underneath.

Other thread about the Pi 400:

I have never liked running a desktop environment on an RPi. There is not enough power in the CPU for that. RAM is plentiful nowadays. But CPU is not fun!

I almost always run mine without a desktop environment. Then they work great!

Obviously, I haven’t tried it yet as they are unavailable still. However, as @jonathon said, “Should be fine. It’s a Pi4 underneath.” Only better, as the 400’s cores run at 1.8 Ghz compared to the RPi4b at 1.5 Gz.

Here’s a link to where a dude completely tears down a RPi 400.

EDIT:
Two accessories you might want to consider purchasing.

A short micro HDMI to HDMI Adaptor.

With this, I leave the adapter on the RPi4 and just connect the regular HDMI connector to it. That way, one is not changing out HDMI cables all the time.

A USB to micro SD and/or SD adaptor.

You will need one of these if you want to install software on a micro SD card, such as EndeavourOS Arm.
