I am basically a senior research scientist in physics. Besides ion traps, my areas of expertise include quantum technologies based on ultracold atoms (ions), atomic clocks, quantum optics, precision measurements. I am not an expert in programming, just have basic knowledge in C, C++, Python and PHP. I know HTML5 quite well and I am forced to learn Python well in the very near future, as it will help me a lot in my profession. An interesting aspect would be my background in UNIX, I have been a network administrator for two and a half years (almost 20 years ago, when I took my CCNA certification) and I was running FreeBSD on a server configured in a RAID 1 arrangement, with Postfix as mail server and clamav running above 3 or 4 antivirus programs. FreeBSD is rock solid, that would me always my first choice for a server, but I happen to think that Arch would also be a very good choice. My first passion and hobby is universal history. Among others. I love pets, my family has a cat, she is with us for almost 6 years. We would also like to have a dog but we don’t have the time necessary to offer him what he needs to be happy.
